I think it’s incredibly unfortunate that, while we could be talking about issues and highlighting the (non-trivial) differences between Obama and McCain, we are instead still embroiled in this soap opera. The chance for Hillary to bow out of this gracefully and for the good of the party passed months ago. I lost all respect for her after the Bosnia-sniper-fire “misstatement.” Her race- and gender-baiting and fuzzy delegate math are all of a piece: she’ll do anything to gain power. Handing this election to McCain is just a bit of unfortunate collateral damage, for her.
I liked Ezra Klein’s comment about Clinton’s “concession” speech:
“I think Clinton may be willing to offer Obama the vice presidency.”
