Google Spreadsheets and Writely (which they bought back in March) are now Google Docs and Spreadsheets. The name is long and practical to a fault, but the new URL is easy to remember: docs.google.com. And now they’ve opened the door to everyone. The changeover went live last night. I’m still getting used to the interface changes, some of which I like and some of which I don’t. But I’ve sung Writely’s praises before, so I’m sure I’ll continue to rely on it. I’ve been very happy using it this semester to keep track of documents I generate for my classes. And I’ve started using it for other things as well. It’s becoming, like all good web applications, an indispensable tool.
I had been using Stylish in Firefox to make Writely look more like the other Google apps. Now I wish I had a user style to make Google Docs look like the old (defukt) Writely (example). Will one of you CSS geniuses kindly get to work on that?
