Can you tell I haven’t felt much like site tinkering of late? I’ve been getting hammered with comment spam for a while now. Back in late March, I tried maintaining a mirror blog in order to allow comments while I fixed (read: wasn’t bothering to fix) the problem here. But that wasn’t much of a success. It discouraged–nay, practically eliminated–any commenting on the posts, even from you diehards. Finally, I tried of having to post everything twice. So there hasn’t been a practical way to comment since mid-May.
Well, I finally got off my duff and slapped together some crap code along with a bit of ingenuity and I think I have a primitive anti-spam feature in place now. Feel free to test it out by leaving a comment. I’ll leave this post open, for a while at least, as a test. We’ll see how long it takes for the spam bots to crack it.
