Since my wife has been in pharmacy school, my movie intake has dropped to near zero. But we have had time to catch a few recently, so I might as well mention them.
I had been meaning to see Closer for a while now. It’s a dark but very well done pessimistic meditation on love. It’s the sort of movie that leaves you depressed and feeling the need to for a shower, or maybe a stiff drink. It features the beautiful and talented Jude Law and the equally beautiful and equally talented Natalie Portman.
I also caught Natalie Portman and that guy from Scrubs in Garden State, which is definately worth a look.
I grabbed Eulogy as a long shot and ended up enjoying it. It’s a black comedy about funerals and dysfunctional familes. It won’t change your life or anything, but it’s not a bad way to kill and hour and a half. It stars Hank Azaria.
I actually braved the local multiplex because I figured Sin City would be the sort of flick that must be seen on the big screen. I did not disappoint. Really fun film noir. Lots of violence and revenge. Definately worth the eight bucks.
