First off, I just noticed that Ron Velosky’s excellent book, Sight Reading for the Bass now has its own web site. Ron, who sent me a review copy of this book years ago, died far too young. But he managed to write what I believe to be the best book on the subject. So, if you’re a bassist who always wanted to–but never did–learn to read, check it out.
A friend turned me onto cdbaby.com and I’ve been checking out all manner of new things, especially in the handy featuring bass section. The best find of the day, you ask? Without a doubt: Gonzalo Silva. Beautifully crafted, touching pop songs with equally beautiful bass (and, on Busker, nothing more).
