It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’ve been grooving on Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works, Vol. 2 for the past few days. It stays in heavy rotation on itunes on my Windows box at work. It’s quietly soothing in the same way that an air conditioner humming away in the background can be, without being distracting in any way. In the car, I’ve been enjoying a great Muddy Water’s album (The Lost Tapes) that I nabbed from the local public library. The Lost Tapes draws from two concert recordings from the same tour in the early 1970s that really showcases how talented Muddy and his band were at putting on a live show. It’s a really engaging recording, and it’s cool to compare the songs here with earlier recorded versions (like those collected on The Real Folk Blues).
