Rolling with FitDay

I’ve decided I’m going to use FitDay this time around to track my diet, exercise, and nutrition. Even when I’m not dieting, I weight in every day and generally record the numbers. I like to know how far off the mark I am. I first tried FitDay back in May of 2006, but I only used it for a few days, as setting up the custom foods seemed like too much trouble. But, as I tend to eat a lot of the same things over and over, I think the setup time will be worth the payoff. Tracking weight, calories, and exercise is easy enough with a pen and a Moleskine notebook, which has been my technique for the past several years. But tracking nutrition is more complicated. And I like being able to chart things on the fly. I could use Excel or Google’s spreadsheet app, but it’s nice to have a tool fit to the purpose.

I had a good day with the diet yesterday. I always loose a lot of weight in the first week, as I stop eating crap, ramp up the exercise, and take in a lot more water. So I had a good weigh-in this morning and put in another thirty minutes on the elliptical.
