Grey Bob has lymphoma, a type of cancer, and not long to live. We love him. We’re devistated at the thought of losing him. Gina had him and his brother White Bob for three and a half years before we met, so he’s a well-established part of the family. Here’s a snap of the two of them, known collectively as “The Brothers Bob” or just “The Bobs.” Hint: Grey Bob is the grey one (he’s blind in his left eye–the result of a brush with a car fourteen years ago–which is why it looks a little funny in photos). And yeah, we know that White Bob isn’t white anymore, but he was as a kitten:
They’ll be 15 in April, but it’s unlikely that Grey Bob will make it. He’s on steroids and other medications right now which are helping him to feel better and regain his apetite. It took a few weeks–including several trips to the vet and one to a specialist in internal medicine–to figure out what was wrong with him. But after lots of blood work and x-rays, an ultrasound and a biopsy, the results were clear. Now we’re just trying to make the most of the little time we have left with him. The meds are helping him seem like his old self. But we know he will eventually take a turn for the worse. And then we’ll have to let him go.
