Anyone who hates Dave Winer cannot be all bad…

I’ve never had much of an opinion about Paul Graham, mostly because I have no interest in Lisp. I remember reading his essay on graduation and thinking parts of it had some merrit: especially his advice to work on hard problems rather than focussing on particular (marketable) skill sets. And his more recent essay on writing contains some good advice, despite being rather badly paragraphed toward the end. But I’ve always suspected him of being a bit overly fond of the sound of his own voice.

Because of that suspicion, I was pleased to stumble across Maciej CegÅ‚owski‘s response to Graham’s popular book, Hackers and Painters. I haven’t read Graham’s book, but I enjoyed the response anyway. Someone who has read it can feel free to chime in. I doubt I’ll bother to read it myself (plenty of other things are already on the list of things I’m not reading).
