Geek update: Been coding Flash MX all day for a new CD-ROM project that’s due August 15th. I’ll try to create a web version as well. And, either way, I’ll be adding some screen shots to the portfolio. Found some good info on setting up Tomcat on Windows 2000. It references Java 1.3 and Tomcat 3.2.1, but it works with the latest distro. Setting it up is a snap. And it’s also easy to roll out on OS X (though, on my old iBook, it’s too slow to be much fun).
Movie update: Caught Pirates of the Caribbean, which was fun and reminded me a bit of The Princess Bride. Also watched Phone Booth, believe it or not, which was far from good but not nearly as bad as I had heard. Also saw The Live of David Gale which was horribly preachy and, despite my eternal respect for Kevin Spacey’s acting (which is as good here as anywhere else), was better done several years ago in Dead Man Walking (which is also a bit didactic, but to a lesser extent). It’s hard to create an “issues” movie that doesn’t suck. The Insider pulls it off. I can’t think of any others that do.
