I’ve been wondering lately how useful it is for me to continue this blog. I haven’t been much interested in it lately, though I still stop by to post once in a while. For a time, it was a real refuge for me (a nice place to sneak away and make sense of the world), but I’m not sure it’s still fulfilling that function. For years, I kept a private journal, and I may go back to that. But I’m not sure. It’ll require some thought.
I still haven’t completed the process of moving things over from my old sites to my new one. And I still haven’t launched the new nancyband.com site. These things need to happen soon. But there’s lots involved. Since I only have 50 MB on the new account, I need to re-encode all the larger graphic and sound files so they take up less space. There’s no sense having huge MP3s on my site that only get hit once in a long while. All of this takes time, of course.
On a good note, I celebrated a wonderful birthday this past weekend thanks to my wife, Gina (who planned everything and made sure that it came off), my mom Vicki (who flew up here for it), and my friends (who showed up to say hey). I played a show with Nancy that weekend and we also released our new CD and sold about 50 of them (and a bunch of t-shirts as well), so it was a really good weekend for the band and for me. And now, thanks to the generosity of others, I have a nice new watch and a DVD player along with plenty of other goodies I don’t deserve. It really was in the top two of all the birtdays I’ve ever had.
This week I’m going to focus on coding up a PHP/MySQL application to solve a problem at work. Who knows what else will crop up. But I’m going to try to stay focussed on that. And that’s all I’m going to say about work, because I’m on this kick about keeping my work and my life divided.
