Like most of America, I’ve been watching a lot of coverage of the Terri Schaivo case. Massachusetts representative Barney Frank, journalist Christopher Hitchens, and attorney Geoffrey Fieger, all spoke convincingly on the issue, as did Mark Schaivo’s own attorney. All of them asked, in essence, that we uphold the rule of law rather than letting [...]
Your physics prof doesn’t buy into your private fantasy of “intelligent” design, you say? Why not sue? Is this what we’ve come to? Exposure to points of view that you don’t agree with is the entire point of college. It makes you grow. If you don’t want to learn anything, stay home.
Ten years ago today, Gina and I were wed in NYC. We had known each other for not quite six months. The trip to New York, originally planned as a spring break vacation, evolved into a plan to elope. One of the things we have always had in common iis a fascination with that city. [...]
I’m visiting my previous hometown (in many ways still my hometown), Fayetteville, Arkansas. Today, I checked out the new public library and had lunch at an old haunt. It’s been a nice visit. We didn’t screw with the database structure, so you can test it out on your existing database w/o problems. [...]
Seraph’s mosaic floor toy will keep you hypnotized. (Mine is called “wheat” but I can’t find a direct way to link to it). The limitations of the form make it quite a challenge. A good escape from all that ails you (unless staring at a monitor is what ails you).
Slacktivist has a nice two part summary of the recent bankruptcy “abuse” legislation.
I wrote out a few chord charts today. These staff paper PDFs fit the bill nicely (the 8 stave and 10 stave ones are perfect for lead sheets). Universities should serve the public good, afterall, right?
At long last, K’s tabbed-browsing plugin MiniT has been updated (to v 0.4) so that it plays well with FireFox 1.0 (and the latest 1.0.1). In the meantime, I had been using the feature rich but slightly less graceful Tab Mix. Guess what? You can use them both simultaneously, if you like (not sure if [...]
